Betty A. White, 79 of Blountville, TN, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, April 9, 2020. Born April 19, 1940 in Hicksville, NY to the late Walter and Frances Hanko. She was a loving mother, who always watched over her children, even when they did not want her to. She had been a resident of Tennessee since 1976, living in both Kingsport and Blountville. Betty will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Frances Johnson and Walter V. Hanko; first husband, Jimmy C. Akers; second husband, Robert White; daughter, Virginia Ann Hodge; granddaughter, Kristen Churchwell; sisters, Eleanor Shade, Arlene Hanko, and Judith Lolley.
Those left to cherish her memory include her sons, James Akers and wife Jan, and Jimmy C. Akers Jr.; daughter, Debby Akers; brother, Walter V. Hanko, Jr.; sister Linda Klenawicuis and husband Butch; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and her special friend, Rachel Robinette.
A family graveside service will be held on Tuesday, April 14, 2020 at 2:00pm at East Lawn Memorial Park at the Chapel of Memories, officiated by Rev. Will Shewey. This service will be limited to family only. Pallbearers will be Jessee Sutton, Jason Wolfe, Charlie Coleman, TC Coleman, Jimmy Akers, James Akers.
