Billy "Buck" Conant of Kingsport, Tennessee, died on Friday morning, November 28th, 2025, at home after a lengthy health battle. Today he is in heaven with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
He was born in Hawkins County, Tennessee, on March 28th, 1936, and moved to Kingsport, Tennessee in 1959. He accepted Jesus as his savior in 1970 and became a member of Bloomingdale Baptist Church, becoming a deacon and choir director. He was a charter member of Bible Baptist Church and later moved his membership to Higher Ground Baptist Church.
Billy was a loving husband and father and was a devoted and faithful Christian who lived his life for the Glory of God. He loved to travel and was a member of the Hill Country Camping Club. He loved Gospel Music and sang in several gospel groups. Billy served in the United States Army from 1954 to 1956 while stationed in Germany. He was an avid golfer and bowler and loved to shoot pool. He was employed by Mead paper for 32 years, from 1966 until his retirement in 1998.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Deloris G Conant; his parents, Clinton V Conant and Bobbie Barton Conant; his four brothers, Elmer Brown, Ralph Conant, Ray Conant, and Curtis Conant; his four sisters, Johnetta Boyd, Louise Davis, Ruby Clark, and Ella Ruth Simmons.
Billy is survived by his daughter, Tammy Dyer (Eddie); his son, Tony Conant; his two brothers, Leo Conant (Stella), and Lloyd Conant; his sister-in-law, Margorie Harris; and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours are from 5:00 PM until 6:45 PM, Thursday December 4th, 2025, at East Lawn Funeral Home. Services will be conducted at 7:00 PM in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Kester Bunch and music provided by Josh and Tanya Greene.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Friday, December 5th, 2025, at East Lawn Memorial Park. Family and friends who will be attending the graveside are to meet at the cemetery at 10:50 AM.
