

Bobby L. Salyer, age 83 of Kingsport, entered into eternal rest with his Heavenly Father on Wednesday, March 23, 2016. Bobby was born to the late Arthur Salyer and late Rosetta Vicars Salyer on May 21, 1932 in Washington County, VA. On December 20, 1954 Bobby married Rosezeen Osborne and after 61 years of a lifetime together and raising their family, she survives.
After serving in the Army, Bobby worked as a technician for Sprint Telephone for many years. Bobby was a founding member of Indian Springs Baptist Church and Bible Baptist Church; where he was a current member. He was a man devoted to his family and taking care of them was one of his highest priorities. He loved spending time with his family, fishing, golf and woodworking. He was a man who lived life and he has left a legacy of love and devotion for his family to carry on. Bobby was preceded in death by his parents; and three brothers, Loyce Salyer, James Salyer, and Claude Salyer.
He is survived by his loving wife, Mrs. Rosezeen Salyer; one son, Ken Salyer; one daughter, Teresa Petgen and husband Ryan; five grandchildren, Jacob Salyer, Braeden Salyer, Katelyn Petgen, Joshua Petgen, and Caleb Petgen; and several loving nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, March 26, 2016 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at East Lawn Funeral Home in Kingsport, Tennessee. Funeral services will be at 12:00 p.m. immediately following visitation in the Chapel of East Lawn Funeral Home with Rev. Don McCann officiating.
There will be a Military Honor’s service on Saturday, March 26, 2016 at 12:30 p.m. in the Chapel of East Lawn Funeral Home immediately following the service. Military Honors will be provided by the Kingsport American Legion Post 3/265. Interment will follow immediately after the Military Honors at East Lawn Memorial Park in the Garden of Everlasting Life III.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers that memorial contributions be made to Gideon’s International, 4511 Timberlake Lane, Kingsport, TN 37664 and/or Amedisys Hospice, 116 Jack White Drive Suite 6, Kingsport, TN 37664.
