I will always remember Brent and his great sense of humor. He & John were such good friends. John said Brent was always like a brother to him. He was a wonderful friend and will always be missed greatly. My thoughts and prayers are with you always.

Brent was a good friend to my brother in-law John Barberia. I first met Brent while running around with John. Brent was a good person and well liked by all that knew him. I remember Brent and Pam coming to John’s memorial service. Brent shared a song he had written for John with my sister Sheila my wife Teresa and I. We’ll always have fond memories of that. May God comfort you and help you through this difficult time.

Though I haven't seen Brent in many years, he remains an unforgetable character. We went through school together. Many, many wonderful memories...My most cherished one was when we played varsity football together at Colonial Heights Jr Hi in 1970. He played in the line and was also 2nd string center--though I never remember him playing center in a game. He was a fine lineman, playing guard, he was kind of stocky then, even a little pudgy. Coach Bell called him "Duck." He certainly helped us win the conference championship that year, seriously. But, his skills as a 2nd string center were questionable. In practice one day he was inserted in the center position. I played quarterback. On the first snap I never touched the ball, it went zipping along the ground to Coach Bell's feet. I'll never forget the look on Brent's face when he whirled around and looked at me and then looked at Coach Bell and then he smiled his unique smile and laughed "Oops!" Even Coach laughed. I have thoroughly enjoyed reading the many entries in the guest book and viewing the wonderful pictures. I read that Brent never met a stranger, that's the Brent I knew.  He went beyond caring, he was an uplifting person, who always made you feel good, and special. And I believe there is a special place in heaven for such people.  My condolences and sympathies to the families for his loss, I know you will miss him. And, his departure was way too early. But, I can imagine the joy and fulfillment he gave you for many years. May God fill the void in your hearts, as only He can, and restore the joy. As I knew Brent, I believe he would want that for you.  Steve Gray, Kingsport

I am so sorry to hear of this world's loss of Brent.  I had the pleasure of going to school with Brent at Central & had several classes with him during the 3 years.  He was always a sweetheart of a guy!  My prayers to his family & friends

Brent, you will be missed my friend. I will miss those late night calls when you wanted me to hear a new song you were working on and your smoked ribs and listening to music together. Although we hadn't been able to spend much time together in recent years, you were and always will be, thought of fondly and warmly. Rest easy and ride free. Our condolences to you & the Family. I've known Brent since the Colonial Heights days; it was always a hoot to go visit with Martin & Sara while I was in the neighborhood. Brent was always an easy going soul who made friends very easily..........he will be missed........

We send our prayers and our condolences to Pam and the family.  We have found that it is the little things you will remember, the quiet moments, the smiles, the laughter. And although it may seem hard right now, it will be the memories of these little things that help push away the pain and bring the smiles back again.  Grief is a long journey, but God will walk the whole way with you!

My thoughts and prayers are with the family. I lived next door to the Leimkuhler's in Colonial Heights and have many fond memories of those days. One of those memories comes to mind every time I make corn bread - Sarah often asked me to make her a pan of corn bread, always said she thought mine was really good. And I will always remember the summer hair cuts Martin gave Marty and Brent. 

May God give each of you comfort and strength during this difficult time.

We had the pleasure of meeting and getting to know the Leimkuhlers through a mutual friend on Patrick Henry lake, and we shared many fun times there. I'll always remember his big smile and contagious laughter. He was a very caring person with a big heart, and will be greatly missed. Rest in peace, Brent, and God's blessings on the family during this most difficult time.

I was so saddened to learn of Brent's passing. As everyone has said he was so full of wit and humor. I have known Brent since elementary school and went through all of our school years together. We grew up in the same neighborhood. Everytime I saw Brent we would both just break out into a big grin. He could always make me have one of those gut laughs. He was one of the funniest guys I have ever known. Even though I haven't seen him in several years, it saddens me to know he is gone. There is a little less sunshine today. My prayers are with Pam, Marty,and the rest of the family. May God give you strength and peace through this very difficult time and the days to come. I pray He will reveal things to you in your quiet times.

Will never forget the time in 92'  when I had the privledge and honor of backcountry camping with Brent and my brother Alan. It rained for two of the three days we camped but Brent kept the sun shining with his unique wit, wisdom, and laughter. We ate like kings because Brent kept the fire going and the cast iron skillet hot and full of food. The world is a little smaller without Brent in it. My heart and prayers go out to Pam and the Leimkuhler family.

The world is a poorer place without you Brent. It's been good to know you.

We have lost a very dear life long friend.  He was always reaching out to help others with a smile and a song  Rest in peace brother. Sad ...so sad.

My thoughts and prayers go out to Brent's family.  Brent and I were in the same 2nd grade class, in Mrs. Parvin's room, at Miller Perry.  From those days I remember a nice guy with a big smile.

Brent and I have traveled a long and interesting road together in our time.  When my parents moved to their house in Colonial Heights in 1958, the Leimkuhlers already lived in the house across the street.  I was three and Brent was two, and we both grew up together playing football and baseball in each other's yards, walking to school, sleding down the hill behind my house in the winter, and having many, many great adventures. When we were in our early teens, Martin and Sarah gave Brent and Marty a Gibson SG jr. guitar for Christmas one year, and we had great times learning to play simple rock songs and look cool - probably Brent's earliest experience at being a musician, which would mean so much to him later in life.  We knew each other through junior high, high school, college at ETSU, and on up until the present.  Like his father, Brent loved the water and fishing, and I enjoyed visiting their lake house on Boone and learning to water ski behind Martin's powerboat.  In my own life, I also had a love of music and picked up the guitar mainly from my father, who was self-taught.  I took lessons while in college, and eventually bought an electric and an accoustic guitar, but played them mostly only for my own enjoyment.  After meeting Tracie Blizzard (now Starnes) in the mid '80s, we began to have jam sessions at Brent's house and even talked about forming a band.  That finally came to pass after we met a talented lead guitar player and I switched over to cover the bass.  We practiced a lot, but our lead player moved on before we ever got to perform before an audience.  However, the bug had bit us, and with the addition of my next door neighbor on lead guitar, this early group became Outlands, a band that has gone through many mutations, but is still around today.  Brent was our first drummer, and I still remember the set of synthesized drums he played at that time.  We had a tremendous time playing at whatever venue would hire us or just let us get on stage, until Brent decided to move on to focus more on writing and original music.  It was a time in my life that I will never forget, and Brent is a friend and brother that I will also never forget.  I wanted to share these few memories I have of Brent with those who read this guestbook, but I have many, many more that I will always cherish.  Brent was a great person and it is my honor to have known him these many years.  May God bless and grant peace and strength to his wife, brother, family, and friends as they try to make it through this most difficult of times.  There will be just a little bit less music in the world with his passing.

I always enjoyed Brent's company whenever I played music at the Wallace's house.  My condolences to Brent's family.

Always a smile, always quick with a laugh, Brent was always a joy to be around. It is hard to imagine anyone enjoying music more, and it is hard to imagine that the music that was his life are now great memories. He was a great drummer and lyricist, and he had impeccable taste. Our family will miss him, and we offer our greatest gratitude for knowing him, and our deepest sympathy to his family. He was one of the best...
