

Della “Bea” Byrd, 87, passed away on Tuesday, March 3, 2015, at her residence. She was born on March 25, 1927 in Greene County, Tennessee, the daughter of the late Charles Lester Payne and Mary Katherine Tunell Payne. Mrs. Byrd was a homemaker and was a member of Andrew Memorial Chapel. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Byrd was preceded in death by her husband of sixty-six years, William Ray Byrd who passed away August 29, 2012; and one daughter, Brenda Gail Byrd.
Survivors include two sons, William Ray Byrd, Jr. and wife Diane, of Blountville, TN and Paul Victor Byrd and wife Tabitha, of Duffield, VA; one daughter and best friend, Linda Sue Salyer and husband Marvin, of Kingsport, TN; thirteen grandchildren, Shellie Pollick and husband Joe, Vince Salyer and wife Kristie, both of Kingsport, TN, Marcy Roney and husband Darryll, of Mebane, NC, Katrina Waye and husband Danny, Danita Newton and fiancé Chris, both of Kingsport, TN, Jennifer Gryder, of Blountville, TN, Sonya Amos and husband Charles, of Kingsport, TN, Shota’ Byrd, of Johnson City, TN, Cody Johnson and Corey Johnson, both of Kingsport, TN, Curtiss Lileich, of Fort Eustis, VA, Brennen Berry, and Ashlyn Berry, of Duffield, VA; eight great grandchildren, Abram Amos, Noah Amos, Jeron Waye, Zoey Waye, Lucas Roney, Haleigh Salyer, Caleb Salyer and Maylee Lileich; one brother, Charles Payne and wife Sylvia, of Kingsport, TN; and three sisters, Betty Bright and Naomi Rigsby, both of Kingsport, TN and Billie Lloyd and husband Bob, of Church Hill, TN.
The family will receive friends Friday, March 6, 2015 from 4:00pm until 7:00pm at the East Lawn Funeral Home. Funeral Services for Mrs. Della “Bea” Byrd will be held Friday, March 6, 2015 at 7:00pm in the East Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Ray Bledsoe officiating. Graveside Services will be held Saturday, March 7, 2015 at 11:00am in the Garden of the Well of East Lawn Memorial Park. Honorary Pallbearers are Bob Perky, Charles Amos, Cary Hill, Bill Cole, Brennan Berry, Tom Fleenor, Vince Salyer, Ray Moore, Joe Pollick, Bob Stokes and Clint Hensley. The family would like to say a special thanks to Mrs. Byrd’s special caregivers, Debbie Lane, Pinkie Shaffer, Sandy Paulie for all of your love and care; and to the staff of Amedysis Hospice, Jeff, Becky, Connie and Linda.
