Eula "Hazel" Kidd

Eula “Hazel” Kidd, age 87 of Kingsport entered into rest and joined her late husband of 53 years, A.D. Kidd in Heaven, on Saturday, September 24, 2011 at the Asbury Center at Baysmont. She was a native of Scott County, Virginia and the daughter of the late Johney J. Albert Laughlin and Sarah Ethel Mullins Laughlin. Mrs. Kidd was a member of Island Road Freewill Baptist Church. She was a homemaker, gardener, and loved to cook especially Lemon pies. She also enjoyed spending time with her Widow’s Support Group and going to the mall with her friends.

Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving and devoted husband of 53 years, A.D. Kidd, brothers; Jess Laughlin, Bill Laughlin and Fred Laughlin. A half-brother: Jack Laughlin; sister: Nelsie Kidd, a half-sister: Lillian Sammons, two infant sisters and her step-mother, Beulah Laughlin.

Survivors include her sons: Larry Kidd and wife Debbie and Harold Kidd and wife Martha; a daughter: Phyllis Starnes and husband Wayne. Half-brothers: Wesley, Albert and Dale Laughlin; sister: Etta McMurray and half-sister Louise Gibson. Eight grandchildren: Shari, Michele, Amy, Tresa, Angela, Wayne II, Kezia and Brittany. Twenty great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. A special niece, Donna Hartsock and special nephews Garry and Ronald Kidd. The family would like to extend exceptional gratitude to friends and neighbors; Mr. and Mrs. Glen Moore.

A Celebration of Life service for Eula “Hazel” Kidd will be conducted on Monday, September 26, 2011 at 7:00 pm in the chapel of East Lawn Funeral Home with Rev. Orville Rogers and Rev. Johnny Gibson officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 pm until the service hour. Interment will be held on Tuesday, September 27, 2011 at 11:00 am in East Lawn Memorial Park. Everyone is asked to meet at the cemetery by 10:50 am. Pallbearers will be Jeff Rushing, Colby Murphy, Scott Calton, Steve Allen, Noah Venters, and Adam Venters.
