Evelyn Odene McConnell

Evelyn Odene McConnell, age 78 of Kingsport, entered into rest on Thursday, May 17, 2012 at her residence with her loving husband and two children by her side. Mrs. McConnell was a Sullivan County native and the daughter of the late Phillip and Virgie Barton Harless. She was a homemaker and attended Pine View Freewill Baptist Church.

Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by an older brother Marvin H Harless, 3 sisters: Belvie Stapleton, Della Bellamy and Nellie Brown, and one child, Melanie Gay McConnell.

Survivors include her husband of 56 years, N.B. McConnell; son, Bryan McConnell and wife Tina; daughter, Tana D. Broyles; grandchildren: Kaitlin Necessary, Micheal McConnell, Tonya Chapman, Alicia McConnell, Tessa Blevins and husband Jay; great grandchildren: Dylan and Macey Blevins; brothers: Harry Harless, Dewey Eugene Harless and a sister, Bertha Payne.

The family will receive friends on Monday, May 21, 2012 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. in the chapel of the East Lawn Funeral Home Chapel. A Celebration of Life service will follow at 7:00 p.m. with Reverend Jack Morelock officiating. A Committal Service will be held on Tuesday, May 22, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. in East Lawn Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Wayne Harless, Don Harless, Joe Necessary, Daniel Necessary, Danny Blankenbeckler, and Phil Harless. Honorary pallbearer will be Micheal McConnell. Everyone is asked to assemble at the funeral home by 12:30 p.m. to go in procession to the cemetery.
