

Gaines Hensley, 77, entered into the Heavenly kingdom during the morning hours of Thursday (July 28, 2016). Gaines was born March 16, 1939 in Sullivan County to the late Roscoe and Marie Hensley. Gaines dedicated his life to the Lord on January 7, 2001. He was of the Christian faith. Gaines only regret was not dedicating his life to the Lord earlier. Gaines was a member of Emmaus Baptist Church. Gaines was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend, he will be greatly missed. His favorite pastime was reading his Bible, tending to his lovely gardens, and taking care of Molly, his special dog. He loved attending church, and he loved his pastor, Dr. Phil Kidd. In addition to his parents, Gaines was preceded in death by his twin brothers at birth; paternal and maternal grandparents; and special uncle, Robert Hensley. Gaines is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Susie Mendenhall Hensley; two sons, Billy & wife Kim and Bobby Hensley; daughter, Robin Hensley of Boston, MA; seven grandchildren, Erica Morelock & husband Roy, Dana Shipley & fiancé Jon, Foy T. Fleming II (T.J.) & wife Erica, Matthew Fleming, Dustin Hensley, David Hensley & Jessica, and Alex Hensley; 10 great-grandchildren, Dylan Morelock, Elizabeth Morelock, Haleigh Garrett, Emma Garrett, Nathan Garrett, Mason Maner, Ava Fleming, Emery Fleming, Ronin Hensley, and Tristan Hensley; three brothers, Wayne & wife Rose, Phil, and Gerald & wife Willadean; three sisters, Virginia Stratton & husband Bill, Glenda Carter & husband Glenn, and Barbara Willis; several nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.The family will receive friends on Sunday (July 31, 2016) from 5 to 7 p.m. at East Lawn Funeral Home.Funeral services will be held Monday (August 1, 2016) at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of East Lawn Funeral Home with Dr. Phil Kidd officiating. Special music will be provided by the Adkins family. Committal services will follow the funeral service on Monday (August 1, 2016) at 3:00 p.m. in the Garden of David at East Lawn Memorial Park.
