George Harvey Williams

George Harvey Williams, age 83, of Blountville, TN. departed this life to meet his Lord and Master on Sunday, January 15, 2012. Born in Scott County, VA. , a son to the late Harve and Lois Davidson Williams, he was a longtime resident of Blountville. George graduated from Emory & Henry College with a BA degree. He served in the U.S. Air Force . George retired after 32 years of service from the Dept. of Human Services, State of Tennessee. He was a devoted and faithful member of Faith Baptist Church where he had served as a Deacon, Superintendent of Sunday School, member of the Advisory Board, member of Missions Committee, Budget Committee, Trustee, Men’s Sunday School Teacher, Assistant Treasurer and Office of Stewardship and Finance, and was a member of the Church Choir. Survivors include his loving wife of 57 years, Marcella Williams of Blountville whom he so lovingly and faithfully cared for the past fifteen years, two sons, Marcus Williams and wife Judy of Blountville, David Williams and wife Stephanie of Jonesborough, two daughters, Alisa Yates and husband Mitchell of Chattanooga, Tamara Williams and husband Scott of Church Hill, five grandchildren, Jennifer Williams, April Williams, Amber Yates, Abbie Williams, Levi Williams, two brothers, Thomas Williams and wife Ruby of Duffield, VA., Dwayne Williams of Gate City, VA., and one sister, Dana Lawson of Kingsport. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Wednesday at East Lawn Funeral Home. A celebration of life service will follow at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Eddie Zimmerman and Levi Williams officiating. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday at East Lawn Memorial Park.
