Georgia E. Darnell

Graveside Services for Georgia Ellen Darnell, age 88, of Kingsport who went home to be with her Lord and her family on Wednesday, November 12, 2014, will be held on Saturday, November 15, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. in the Garden of the Apostles of East Lawn Memorial Park. Mrs. Darnell was born and raised in Dennis Cove, TN but had lived most of her life in Kingsport. Georgia was very much loved and will be missed dearly. She was the daughter of then late Lloyd Whitehead and Hettie Victoria Whitehead and she is preceded in death by all her brothers and sisters. She was very special in her community as she had baby-sitted so many children and cleaned so many homes over the years. In addition to her parents, Lloyd and Hettie Victoria Whitehead and her brothers and sisters, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Bruce Hallaway and her second husband, John Darnell. She is survived by her two daughters, Hedy Hallaway Teague and Tammy Darnell, both of Kingsport. Our mother always wanted to help her family, neighbors, friends or just someone that needed something. In lieu of flowers, Georgia would want you to help someone do a good deed no matter how great or how small. She always wanted to help when someone was sick or take food to them. So if you know of someone in need, please do a good deed in honor of our mom’s memory or make a donation to a local church, charity, or to a child in need of a special Christmas this year. A special thanks to Elmcroft, Wellmont Hospice and the nurses especially Heather, Keela, Robin and Stephanie and to Dr. Richard Dickson for their love and care they provided for our mom.
