

Grant “Kelsey” Clonce, Jr., 84, went to be with the Lord on Monday, March 9, 2015, at Greystone Healthcare. Mr. Clonce was born on August 9, 1930 in Sullivan County, Tennessee, the son of the late Grant Kelsey Clonce, Sr. and Olga Ruth Adams Clonce. He graduated from Dobyns-Bennett High School and from East Tennessee State University with a Bachelor’s in Education. Mr. Clonce taught for the Hawkins County School System for thirty plus years, having taught at Church Hill and Volunteer. He was a member of the Reservoir Road Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, Mr. Clonce was preceded in death by his wife of fifty-three years, Daphne June Clonce on February 26, 2013. Survivors include one son, Mark Clonce and wife Mikki, of Mount Carmel, TN; one daughter, Rebecca “Becky” Hayes and husband Ken, of Blountville, TN; two granddaughters, Amber Alvis and husband Brian, of Rogersville, TN and Becky Thomas and husband Chris, of Kingsport, TN; four great grandchildren, Karah and Lydia Alvis and Gavin and Ethan Thomas; one sister, Betty Sally, of Church Hill, TN; and two nieces and one nephew. The family will receive friends Thursday, March 12, 2015 from 5:00pm until 7:00pm at the East Lawn Funeral Home. Funeral Service for Mr. Grant “Kelsey” Clonce, Jr. will be held Friday, March 13, 2015 at 1:00pm in the East Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Kenneth Kyker officiating. Burial will follow in the Garden of the Well of East Lawn Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be family and friends. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the Alzheimer’s Association, 225 N. Michigan Avenue, Floor 17, Chicago, IL 60601.
