Helen Valentino

Helen Mae Guerin Valentino, age 87, passed away February 1, 2011 at Holston Valley Medical Center. She was born January 16, 1924, in New York City, New York, to John and Helen Schuessler Guerin. She grew up in Princeton, N.J., and moved to Ridgefield, CT. in 1943. She has also lived in Charleston, R.I. before moving to Stuart, Fl. In 1992. Helen and her husband ,moved to Tennessee in August of 2009 to be near their son and daughter in law, Richard and Kathy. Helen was a homemaker. While living in Ridgefield, CT., Helen was a member of the St. Mary’s Parish and the Ladies Auxiliary of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. She is survived by her loving husband of sixty-seven years, Leno Valentino of Surgoinsville, TN., children, Richard and Kathy Valentino of Surgoinsville, TN., Virginia Mae Brown of Richmond, VA., William and Denise Valentino, of Chester, VA., Judith and Keith Readon of Brewster , Mass., Patty and John Kiernan of Jensen Beach, Fl., fourteen grandchildren, and eleven great grandchildren. A memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 5, 2011 at Saint Dominic’s Catholic Church, Kingsport, TN. Inurnment will be at a later date at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Ridgefield, CT. In lieu of flowers a memorial contributions in honor of Helen may be made Saint Jude’s Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN. 38105.
