

Herbert Ray Dowell, age 83, entered into rest October 13, 2012 at his residence. Born in Shouns, Tennessee, a son to Spencer Rayburn and Olive Hammons Dowell, he was a longtime resident of Blountville. Herbert was retired as a heavy equipment mechanic. He was a member of the Blountville Christian Church. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brothers, James, Clyde and Eugene Dowell. Survivors include his wife of sixty five years, Frances J. Dowell of Blountville; one son, Douglas R. Dowell and wife Cindy of Orlando, FL; two daughters, Pamela J. Hebert and husband Gary, Brenda J. Dowell all of Blountville; five grandchildren, Dean Noles, Dale Noles, Brad Hebert, Clayton Dowell, Laura Brobst; three great-grandchildren, Taylor Noles, Kaleb Noles, Elianna Dowell; one brother, Carl H. Dowell of Lebanon, Missouri; two sisters, Virginia Osborne and husband Cordus of New Providence, PA, Lois Daughterty of Gray, TN. brothers-in-law, Stanley Brown and wife Wanda, Ronald Jay Brown; sisters-in-law, Lucille Powell and husband Littleton, Phyllis Smith and husband Paul all of Elkton, Maryland; numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 17, 2012 at East Lawn Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 3:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Steve Everroad officiating. Burial will be at East Lawn Memorial Park.
