

James “Jim” McKinney, age 84, entered into rest on Friday, December 2, 2011 at the Tennessee State Veterans Home in Humboldt, Tennessee. Mr. McKinney was a native of Erwin, Tennessee and had lived most of his life in Blountville. He was the son of the late Rex and June Tinker McKinney. Mr. McKinney proudly served his country in the United States Navy, and had retired from CSX Rail Transportation after more than 30 years of service.
Other than his parents, Mr. McKinney was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Joyce Banks McKinney in 2010; a son, Steve McKinney; a brother, Frank McKinney and a sister, Stanley Pierce.
Survivors include: Daughter: Carolyn Morley and husband David, Blountville; Sons: Terry McKinney and wife Barbara of Winston Salem, North Carolina, and Mark McKinney and wife Pam of Arlington, Tennessee. Sister, ImoJean Chancellier of Eureka, California; Nine grandchildren and Five great-grandchildren, along with several nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life Service for James McKinney will be held on Monday, December 5, 2001 at 8:00 pm in the East Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with his son, Mark McKinney officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Monday. A military graveside service will be held on Tuesday, December 6, 2011 at 10:00 am in East Lawn Memorial Park, where his grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be: Bill May, Ronnie Shipley, Randy, David and Dwight Smith. Everyone is asked to assemble at the cemetery by 9:45 am.
