
James Howard Slaughter, age 84, of Bristol, VA passed away Saturday morning (August 14, 2010) at his residence.
Born in Blountville, TN on March 4, 1926, a son of the late Reece and Sally Malone Slaughter he has resided in this area his entire life.
Mr. Slaughter retired from the State of Tennessee Highway Department.
He was a member and deacon at East End Christian Church.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his first wife, Emma Mae Slaughter and by five brothers and sisters.
Survivors include his wife of 11 ½ years, Marie Hutton Slaughter of the home; one sister Georgia Faye Hashbarger of Blountville; special cousins, Linda Simcox and Lila Lee Hutton; special brothers-in-law, Wally Hutton and Nick Hutton.
Burial will follow graveside services at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday (August 17, 2010) in East Lawn Memorial Park. Dr. Sam Murray will officiate. Honorary pallbearers will be Tim Moore, Gary Tucker, Paul Foran, Jess Slaughter, George Blaylock and Charles “Moe” Curcio.
A Memorial service will follow at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at East End Christian Church, 1216 Texas Avenue, Bristol, VA 24201. Family and friends may gather to share memories of James following to services.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions may be made to East End Christian Church, 1216 Texas Avenue, Bristol, VA 24201.
