

Johnny Paul Cox, 88, of Kingsport, passed away February 22, 2011. He was born March 11, 1922 to Clarence and Elizabeth Cox in Green County, TN. J. Paul was preceded in death by one son, Jerry Lynn Cox, his parents, brothers Orville, R.C., Earl, Robert, J.C., sisters Gladys Cox Conkin and Hazel Cox Crawford. He is survived by his wife of sixty seven years, Mildred Smith Cox, one son Johnny Ray cox and wife Kathy, granddaughter Krystal Cox McReynolds and husband Chris, great grandsons Zeb, Cam and Jett, one brother Roy Cox and wife Bonnie, one sister Ruth Cline and husband Dave, several nieces and nephews. J. Paul retired from Eastman Kodak after forty three years of service. He was a member of Sullivan Baptist Church, where he had taught an Adult Men’s Sunday School Class for thirty eight years. J. Paul enjoyed wood working, being outside taking care of his yard and spending time with his family and many dear friends.
The family will receive friends on today, Thursday, February 24th, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at East Lawn Funeral Home, with the service at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Jeff Strong officiating. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, February 25th at East Lawn Memorial Park. Serving as pallbearers will be Chris McReynolds, Zeb McReynolds, Shane Kirk, Kyle Chase, Marty Phillips, Henry Lawson, Wayne Stanley. Memorial contributions may be made to the Sullivan Baptist Church Building Fund. Arrangements under the direction of East Lawn Funeral Home, Kingsport, TN.
