Johnny graduated college in 1974 with an undergraduate degree in Chemical Engineering and a Masters in Environmental Engineering. He loved learning. Johnny went on to earn an additional Masters in Industrial Management. He began his career with Holston Defense Corporation, where he held several positions. He was also a captain in the Army Reserves until the mid 1980’s. Most recently Johnny enjoyed serving as the Health, Safety and Environmental Director at Hutchinson. He and Patty were members of St. Dominic’s Catholic Church.
Johnny is preceded in death by his parents, Lois Inez and John McLawson Evans.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 31 years, Patricia (Patty) Evans, of Kingsport; his children and greatest pride: Paul Evans and wife Claire of Memphis, TN, Rachel Evans of Maryville, TN, Susan Carter and husband Ridge of Maryville, TN, Johnny Evans, Jr. of Houston, TX, and Clay Evans of New Orleans, LA; grandchildren, Olivia, Branton, and Evelynn; siblings, Gail Reed and Ronnie Evans, and special person in his life, Janet Evans.
A Mass of Remembrance will be held on Monday, May 28, 2018 at 10:00am at St. Dominic’s Catholic Church with Father Michael Cummins officiating. An inurnment service will follow at the church.
The family will always remember him as a hard worker, with uncommon fortitude, who encouraged many and loved his family above all else.
