

She was born November 7, 1943, in Pensacola, Florida to the late Albert Bryant and Mattie Vivian Lane Arrington. Judy earned her bachelor’s degree in 1965 from East Tennessee State University with magna cum laude honors. Afterward, she dedicated 35 years to Sullivan County Public Schools where she taught at Indian Springs Elementary School. Judy will be remembered by her family as a loving mother, grandmother, and devoted public servant.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother, Bryant Anthony Arrington.
She is survived by her loving children, Chris Brown and fiancé Vickie Carter of Gray, Tennessee and Amy Southerland and husband Shannon of Kingsport, Tennessee; sister, Belinda Carter and husband David of Rocky Mount, North Carolina; grandchildren whom she adored, Bradley Brown and Riley Southerland; sister-in-law, Sherena Arrington of Georgia. Judy is also survived by several nieces and their families.
The family held a private funeral service and burial officiated by Reverend Dr. Robert Jones at East Lawn Funeral Home and Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations in Judy’s honor be made to Indian Springs Baptist Church, 214 Hill Road, Kingsport, Tennessee, 37664.
