Lee Austin Caine "Peanut" Smith

Lee Austin Caine “Peanut” Smith, 24, passed away on Thursday, April 10, 2014 at the Johnston Memorial Hospital in Abingdon, Virginia. Mr. Smith was born November 10, 1989 in Kingsport, TN a son of Billy Smith and Pamala Lynn Begley Smith. Mr. Smith had served the last 4 years as a Police Officer with the Abingdon Virginia Police Department and was a former employee of Home Depot of Kingsport. He attended Higher Ground Baptist Church and Fountain of Life. He was preceded in death by his great grandfather, Charlie Begley and his best friend Jerry Walters. Mr. Smith is survived by his wife, Penny Stanley Smith; his father and mother, Billy D. Smith and Pamala Begley Smith; three brothers, Billy Smith, III., Elijah Smith and Waylon Smith; grandparents, Gerold and Glenna Begley and Billy and Nellie Smith; great grandparents, Betty Begley, R.B. and Laura Kate Lane and Trixie Forbes; grandmother in-law, Jean Miller; one uncle, Tim Begley and wife Tammy; four aunts, Debra Hill, Becky Pruitt, Amy Roberts and Tina Smith; father and mother-in-law, Jerry and Kim Stanley; best friend, Trey Smotherman; and several friends. Funeral services for Mr. Lee Austin Caine “Peanut” Smith will be held Sunday, April 13, 2014 at 2:00pm in the East Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Vic Young officiating. Burial will follow in Everlasting Life III of East Lawn Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Trey Smotherman, Tyler Smotherman, Josh Davenport, Josh Reed, Garrett Scholton, Brian Stainker, Shawn Stout and Justin Walters. Honorary Pallbearers will be members of the Abingdon Police Department. The family will receive friends Sunday, April 13, 2014 in the East Lawn Funeral Home Chapel from 11:00am until 2:00pm.
