Martha Kate W. Lambert

On July 4, 2011 Martha Kate Lambert left her earthly life at Indian Path Medical Center, Kingsport, Tennessee, nineteen days short of her ninety-sixth birthday. Kate was born in Sneedville, TN and was the daughter of Martha Roberts Willis and A. Y. Willis. Mrs. Lambert was preceded in death by her husband, George Lambert and her grandson Gerard Lambert, seven brothers; Ray, Tom, Howard, Dan, Gale, Lloyd and Glen Willis, two sisters; Maggie Osborne and Hulda Willis. She is survived by her daughter, Charleen and husband Doug Arwood, Blountville, TN, son George Rondy and wife Martha Lambert, son Wayne Gray and wife Frankie Lambert, all of Kingsport, TN. She is survived by four granddaughters, Angellette Richardson and husband Max, Kingsport, TN, Rhonda Lambert, Gallatin, TN, April Arwood, Blountville, TN, and Tuesday Reynolds and husband Timothy, Abingdon, VA, five great-granddaughters; Caitlin, Callie, and Jacy Richardson, Madison Dagen, Lily Grace Reynolds, and one great grandson, Seth Reynolds. She is survived by several nieces and nephews.

She was married to her husband George Lambert for 59 years. They lived in Blackwater, VA and Kingsport, TN.

Kate was a member of Fort Robinson Baptist Church. She graduated from Blackwater High School, first in the Class of 1935, of which she was extremely proud. Kate was a member of the Blackwater Girls’ Basketball Team. Kate was employed at W. B. Greene, J. C. Penney, and Nettie Lee Dress Shop for a number of years. Kate Lambert was an expert seamstress. She enjoyed sewing and doing needlework for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She liked making quilts and cooking for her family.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, at East Lawn Funeral Home on Thursday, July 7th with the funeral services at 2:00 PM at the funeral home chapel, with the Reverend Timothy Reynolds and his wife Tuesday. Burial will be at East Lawn Memorial Park immediately after the l service.
