

Mary L. Jackson, age 68, entered into rest July 11, 2011 at Wellmont Holston Valley Hospital. Born in Sullivan County, a daughter to Joseph Walter Sumner and Etta Mae Edwards Sumner, she was a longtime resident of Kingsport most of her life.
Mary was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and will be sadly missed by her family and friends.
Mary was the owner and operator of the Jackson’s Tea Room and Heirloom’s. She was a member of the Living Praise Assembly of God Church. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by three brothers, Otis, D.C. and Wayne Sumner and one sister, Betty Sims. Survivors include her husband of twenty three years, Bobby J. Jackson, three sons, Bobby Sims, Tony Sims and wife Robin, Joey Sims and wife Tisha, two daughters, Sabrina Maulick, Sherry Griffith, one step-daughter Cindy Norris and husband Steve, thirteen grandchildren, Brian, Jonathan, Emily, Stephen, Armanda, Dustin, Deven, Dillon, Jayden, Cody, Kiera, Taylor and Andrew, four great- grandchildren, Domenic, Delilah, Dante, Amelia, one brother, Tom Sumner and wife Patsy, two sisters, Barbara Bledsoe and husband Wallace and Kathy Ketron. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Thursday, at East Lawn Funeral Home. A celebration of her life will follow at 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Bob Yates officiating. Graveside services will be held Friday, at 11:00 a.m. at East Lawn Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to the Holston Valley Hospital Heart Center.
