

Murton P. Carter, D.Ph., passed away peacefully on Monday, November 23, 2015 at his home with his family by his side. Murton was born January 29, 1940 to the late Morgan Carter and the late Dollie Hood Carter in Scott County, VA. Murton practiced pharmacy for many years in the Tri-Cities area and was retired from CVS Pharmacy in Colonial Heights. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Morgan Carter Jr., and Lee Carter; one sister, Ann Stallard; two brothers-in-law, Joe Stallard and Harold Seaver. Surviving are his wife, Marcheta Blair Carter of the home; two sons, C. Ryan Carter and wife Kristin of Coconut Creek, FL and Derek Jason Carter of Celebration, FL; one daughter, Andrea Carter Wilson and husband Jeremy of Knoxville, TN; one brother, James Darwin Carter of Kingsport, TN; two sisters, Nancy Carter Seaver of Church Hill, TN, Linda Carter Bond and husband Larry of Fairfield, VA. Four grandchildren, Christian Carter, Mabree Wilson, Colton Wilson and Kendall Carter. Step-sons, David King of Pinehurst, NC and Steven King of Roanoke Rapids, NC; step-daughter, Melissa King of Newport News, VA. Step-grandchildren, Andrew King, Katherine King, Nicholas King, Teagan King, Evan King, and Ella King. Several nieces and nephews survive. The family will receive friends on Saturday, December 5, 2015 from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. at East Lawn Funeral Home. The memorial service will be at 2:00 p.m. following visitation. A military interment service will be at 3:00 p.m. following the memorial service on December 5, 2015 in the Scenic Overlook Garden of East Lawn Memorial Park. Military Honors will be provided by the Kingsport American Legion Post 2/365.
