

Mr. N.B. McConnell, age 83, of Kingsport, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday June 22, 2013 at his residence with his loving family and his devoted sister, Emma Jean at his side. A native of Scott County, VA, Mr. McConnell was born on October 31, 1929 the son of the late Patton Sylvester and Molly Elizabeth Bellamy McConnell. He proudly served his country during World War II serving in the United States Army. Prior to his retirement, Mr. McConnell was employed with Eastman Kodak for many years. He was a member of the Pineview Freewill Baptist Church and was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Evelyn Odene McConnell in 2012, and by a daughter, Melonie Gay McConnell in 2011. Mr. McConnell was also preceded in death by his brothers; Glady, Everett, James, Paris, Paul, Patton “Jr.”, and by a sister, Stella Clawson. Survivors include his daughter; Tana Broyles. One son and daughter-in-law; Bryan and Tina McConnell. One sister; Emma Jean Broadwater. Five grandchildren; Tessa Blevins, Alicia Richardson, Tonya Chapman, Michael McConnell, and Kaitlin Williams. Three great-grandchildren; Dylan Blevins, Macey Blevins, and Joseph Williams. A number of nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services for Mr. McConnell will be conducted on Monday June 24, 2013 at 7 p.m. from the chapel of the East Lawn Funeral Home with Rev. Mike Owens and Rev. Jack Morelock officiating. Burial will follow on Tuesday at 11 a.m. in the East Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Monday evening from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Jim Kelley, Wayne Wright, Daniel Blankenbeckler, Jay Blevins, Ryan Toronjo, and Glenn Broadwater. Mr. Michael McConnell will serve as an honorary pallbearer. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
