Phyllis Ann Lane Reed, aged 84, passed away on January 15, 2026. Born on March 20, 1941 to Margaret Willis Lane and Otis D Lane, Sr. in Wise County, Virginia. Phyllis was a resident of Kingsport, Tennessee.
Phyllis grew up in Big Stone Gap, Virginia and attended Cadet Primitive Baptist Church until she married the love of her life, Elmer Wayne Reed in 1961 and moved to Kingsport, Tennessee. In Kingsport, she attended Andrew Memorial Baptist Church. Phyllis served the church ladies group and sang in the choir. She was an avid Dallas Cowboys football fan and loved quilting.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Elmer Reed, her parents, Margaret "Nevar" Lane and her father, Otis "Ode" Lane, Sr; her brothers, Julius "Buddy" Lane, Otis "Richard" D Lane, Jr, Homer "Bubber" Robinson, and Earl Mitchell Robinson; her sister, Patsy Geraldine Sproles; and very special niece Pamela Mullins; as well as several special aunts and cousins.
Left to cherish Phyllis's memory are her daughter, Tina Reed; her sons, Barry (Michelle) Reed, and Marty (Dolly) Reed; her grandchildren, Stephanie (Jeremy) McKee, Tara (Josh) Gambrell, Dalton Hatmaker, Alex (Jaycee) Reed, Abigail Reed, Austin Reed, and Anna Reed; her great-grandchildren, Addy, Malia, Justin, Jaxson, Bentley, Brooklyn, Bristol, and Landry.
If we were to list everyone who she loved and who loved her, the list would go on forever. Know she loved you all.
Visitation for Phyllis and her family will be held on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, from 12:00 to 2:00 PM at East Lawn Funeral Home, 4997 Memorial Boulevard, Kingsport, Tennessee. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 PM, with Pastors Jay Bradley and Roy Leedy officiating. The graveside committal will take place at 3:00 PM in Mausoleum 2.
