Vilas Whitaker Horne

Vilas Whitaker Horne, 87, passed away on Saturday, July 18, 2015, at her residence. Mrs. Horne was born on June 23, 1928 in Sullivan County, Tennessee, the daughter of the late George Watson Whitaker and Sarah Huffman Whitaker. She was a very loving Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother and Sister. She was the owner and operator of Vilas Sewing Company and was a member of Salem United Methodist Church. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Horne was preceded in death by an infant brother, John William Whitaker. Survivors include her husband of sixty-six years, Floyd Horne; two sons, Rev. Ronnie Horne and wife Wanda, and Darrell Horne and wife Debra; three grandchildren, Amy Falin and husband Scott, Joshua Horne and wife Desirae, and Sunshine Bourque and husband Brandon; five great grandsons, Soloman Falin, Connor Falin, Nicholas Bourque, Colten Bourque, and Elijah Horne; three brothers, Carlos Whitaker and wife Aldie, Ezra Whitaker and wife Doris, and Claude Whitaker and wife Patsy; three sisters, Hildred Taylor, Thelma Anderson, and Margaret Grogg; and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Wednesday, July 22, 2015 from 5:00pm until 7:00pm at East Lawn Funeral Home. Funeral Service for Mrs. Vilas Whitaker Horne will be held Wednesday, July 22, 2015 at 7:00pm in the East Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Lewis Kizer and Rev. Will Shewey officiating. Graveside Service will be held Thursday, July 23, 2015 at 11:00am at Salem United Methodist Church Cemetery, 230 Boozy Creek Road, Blountville, TN. Pallbearers will be Joshua Horne, Soloman Falin, Connor Falin, Scott Falin, Brandon Bourque, and Allen Anderson. Honorary Pallbearers will be Nicholas Bourque, Colten Bourque, and Elijah Horne. The family would like to say a special thank you to Kristie Bowman and Amy Falin.
