

Virginia Dare Mitchell, age 84, entered into rest September 14, 2012 at Wellmont Hospice House, Bristol. She was born in Wilkes County, NC and was a longtime resident of Bristol, and was a member of Bethel View Baptist Church. Virginia was retired as a sales clerk with J.C. Penny’s. She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard B. Mitchell; son, Johnny; her parents, W.A. and Lucy Nunn Seckler; three brothers, Jack, William and Joe Seckler; and one sister, Lucille Bumgardener. Survivors include, two daughters, Eva Seifert of Leesburg, VA, Barbara and husband Jim Doyle of Johnson City; two sons, Terry and wife Kathy Mitchell of Bristol, TN, Gerald and wife Patty Mitchell of Blountville; six grandchildren and two great granddaughters; one sister, Marie McGrady of Kingsport; one sister-in-law, Eva Seckler of Pennsylvania ; several nieces and nephews. The family would like to express special thanks to her caregivers, Diania Harrison and Susie Stout; and the Staff at Wellmont Hospice House for the care given to Virginia. The family will receive friends Sunday, September 16, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at East Lawn Funeral Home, with funeral services to follow in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Andy Wood officiating. Burial will follow at Fordtown Cemetery. In lieu of food and flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Wellmont Hospice House, 280 Steeles Road, Bristol, TN 37620 or the American Cancer Society.
