Virginia Ruth Sturgill

Virginia Ruth Sturgill, 94, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, on May 14, 2019. She was born February 20, 1925 in Greeneville, TN to the late Flora and James Tilson. Ruth was a member of Vernon Heights Baptist Church. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, who will be greatly missed by her family.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 73 years, Claude Sturgill, and grandson Chad Sturgill.

Those left to cherish memory include her sons, Gary Sturgill and wife Nancy, Larry Sturgill and fiancé Vicky, Jeff Sturgill and wife Vickie, and Lynn Sturgill and wife Ann; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends Friday, May 17, 2019 from 1:30 to 2:30 pm at East Lawn Funeral Home. A celebration of Ruth’s life will follow at 2:30 pm with Pastor Mike Anglin officiating.

Ruth will be laid to rest following the funeral service at East Lawn Memorial Park in the Garden of Devotion.

Family will serve as pallbearers.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff of the Villages at Allendale, for their compassion towards Ruth.
