Carl R. Wood

Carl Ray Wood, age 75, a resident of Kingsville, Texas passed away Friday, March 16, 2012 in Kingsville. He was born May 4, 1936 in Waco, Texas to Virgie Matthews. Carl was a retired truck driver. He served in the U.S. Navy and was stationed at NAS Kingsville in 1953-55. While stationed in Kingsville, he worked for Borden Milk Company as a delivery man and also worked for Circle C Vacuum Service.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Virgie Matthews and wife, Martha Ann Schneider Wood.

Carl is survived by eight children, Robert Wood (Rhonda) of Sandia, Texas, Catherine Vargas (Rey) of Corpus Christi, Texas, Virginia Scherpereel (Damien) of Sugarland, Texas, Edward Wood (Trish) of Kingsville, David Wood of Taft, Texas, Michael Wood of Riviera, Texas, Valarie Enzenbacher (Ralph) of Riviera and Brian Wood (Becky) of Kingsville; 14 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and brother-in-law, Raymond Schneider (Elenor) of Arlington, Texas; brother-in-law, Bobby Schneider (Margaret) of Arlington; sister-in-law, Mary Harris of Kingsville; brother-in-law, Urbin Schneider of Riviera; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 27, 2012 at Our Lady of Consolation Catholic Church, Vattmann, Texas. Burial of cremains will take place after the Memorial Mass at Our Lady of Consolation Catholic Cemetery followed by military honors provided by the Veterans of Kleberg County Military Funeral Detail.
