

Jose C. “Tino” Quintanilla of Kingsville, Texas, passed away Saturday, August 11, 2012, at the age of 74.He was born on March 19, 1938, to Celestino A. and Elena G. Quintanilla in Kingsville. Tino was a race horse trainer for over fifty two years in California, Kentucky and New York until his retirement. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Irma G. Quintanilla; his parents; his daughter, Patricia Acevedo; three brothers: Martin E. Garcia, Oscar Quintanilla and Israel Quintanilla. Tino’s memory will always be cherished by his five children: Elena (Danny) Gaffnay and Nerio (Molly) Quintanilla, all of Lorance, Kansas, Joe (Rita) Quintanilla of Louisville, Kentucky, Rosa (George) Brookover of Hesperia, California and Oscar Quintanilla of Kingsville; twenty-one grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two brothers, Raul (Leonor) Quintanilla of Portland, Texas and Joe F. (Vilma) Quintanilla of Kingsville. The family would like to express their appreciation and thanks to Tino’s caregiver, Eva Perez, the Staff of Trisun Coastal Palms and Light house Hospice for their care and especially to his brother and sister-in-law, Raul and Leonor Quintanilla for their many years of faithful loving support andcare. Visitation will take place on Thursday, August 16, 2012, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Turcotte-Piper Mortuary. Funeral Service will be at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, August 17, 2012, at Turcotte-Piper Mortuary. Burial will follow the service at Santa Gertrudis Cemetery.
