

Janie was a lifelong resident of Kingsville, Texas; she was a graduate of H.M. King High School and a graduate of Bee County College. She was employed at Texas A&M University Kingsville for 25 years and retired in 2005. She was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church.
She is preceded in death by her father, Manuel Esquivel, Sr. and one sister, Theresa Gutierrez.
Janie is survived by her husband of 42 years, Juan B. Garza of Ricardo, Texas; daughter, Norma Jean (Raul) Govea of Alice, Texas; 4 sons, Michael (Irma) Garza, Juan (Christina), Garza Jr., Alberto Noe (Imelda) Garza, David (Krystal) Ybarra all of Kingsville, Texas; mother, Anita Esquivel of Kingsville, Texas; 3 sisters, Mary Lou (Martin) Pena of Kingsville, Linda (Balde) Moreno of Kingsville, Esperanza Hinojosa of Austin, Texas; brothers, Lupe (Dora) Esquivel of Corpus Christi and Manuel (Anna) Esquivel, Jr., of Kingsville. Also surviving are 17 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.
Visitation will be held at Turcotte Piper Mortuary from 3:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Friday, February 18, 2011with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. that same evening. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 19, 2011 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church with interment to follow at Chamberlain Cemetery.
