Maria Dora Perez

Maria Dora Perez of Bishop, Texas, passed away on Thursday, September 6, 2012, at the age of 75. She was born in Bishop on August 10, 1937, to Ignacio and Josefa Jimenez. Maria Dora spent most of her time making her house a home. In her free time, she enjoyed camping, baking, sewing, cooking and making jewelry. She also loved babysitting for family and friends. Maria Dora’s great-grandson was her pride and joy. She was a member of St. James Catholic Church for many years. She will always be remembered as a loving wife, mother and grandmother.

She was preceded in death by her parents; five sisters: Guadalupe Castaneda, Olivia Garcia, Gloria Jimenez, Estelita Jimenez and Juanria Guartuche; and one brother, Octivio Jimenez. Maria Dora leaves behind to cherish her memory her loving husband of forty-seven years, Mike R. Perez; three daughters: Norma (Gabriel) Cavazos of Bishop, Gloria Rae Straub of Indianapolis, Indiana, and Nelda Benavente and partner Luciano Riojos of Kingsville, Texas; four sisters: Elisa (Rafael) Lerma of Baytown, Texas, Irma Rosa, Mary (Oscar) Rodriguez both of Bishop and Rosie (Edward) Trujillo of Kingsville; three brothers: Ygnacio (Lydia) Jimenez of Baytown, Benito (Angel) Jimenez and Jose A. (Vilma) Jimenez both of Bishop; nine grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 9, 2012, from 10:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Turcotte-Piper Mortuary in Kingsville with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, September 10, 2012, at 10:00 a.m. at St. James Catholic Church in Bishop. Burial will follow the service at St. James Catholic Cemetery also in Bishop.
