Lt. Commander Rodney Riggs Guidry ,USN (Ret.)

Rodney Riggs Guidry, Lt. Commander, USN (Ret.), age 79, a resident of Kingsville, Texas passed away Friday, December 23, 2011 in Kingsville. He was born April 29, 1932 in Houston, Texas to John Guidry and Hazel Henry Guidry. Mr. Guidry was a Naval Aviator for the U.S. Navy for over 20 years until his retirement. Afterwards, he was the owner of Guidry’s Hobbies in Kingsville from 1975 until his death. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Vietnam Era. Rodney was of the Methodist faith.

He was preceded in death by his beloved son, Rodney Guidry Jr.; and parents.

Mr. Guidry is survived by his wife, Dorothy Guidry of Kingsville; daughter, Susan Guidry Fowler (Doug) of Keller, Texas; sister, Yvonne Poitevent (Joe) of Palestine, Texas; two grandchildren, Claire Fowler and Dillon Fowler, both of Keller; one niece and three nephews.

Visitation will take place from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 27, 2011 at the Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Mausoleum Chapel. A Mausoleum Chapel Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 27, 2011 at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Mausoleum Chapel , 14501 North IH - 35, Pflugerville, Texas with Rev. J.B. Fowler officiating. Burial will follow at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to a charity of one’s choice.

Services are entrusted to Turcotte-Piper Mortuary, 205 General Cavazos Blvd., Kingsville, Texas.
