Predeceased by her husband of 53 years, Zoltan (2005), son Stewart (2019), parents Edward/Marion (Brown) Beale, sisters Evelyn, Vera and Doreen, brothers Theodore and G. Watson, and son-in-law Glen Clements (2020).
Gladys is survived by her daughters Colleen Clements and Cathy (Tim) Dew, daughter-in-law Theresa Beresh, 9 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, brother Ray Beale (Yvette), numerous nieces and nephews, as well as several relatives in the UK.
Gladys was born and raised on the family farm south of Bethune. She grew up in the difficult thirties and was expected to help with the heavy farm work. She and her siblings walked or rode horses to the North Plains School. She often told stories of this time in her life and in particular, the summer family outings to the nearby Qu'Appelle Valley. She was always busy, telling us "hard work never killed anyone." In fact, she had many sayings that have been passed down and we hear the grandkids say to their children. She was artistic, enjoyed painting and crocheting. She loved to garden and was a master gardener and cook. She sold bedding plants for many years out of the Beresh Motors showroom and had a business of floral design called "Crafts by Gladys".
After high school, which she completed in Bethune, she went on to Regina where she was first employed by SaskTel, then later at SaskPower. It was here in Regina that she met Zoli on a blind date, the rest is history. Their life together began in the Village of Windthorst in 1952, which was home until Zoli passed, Gladys later moved to a smaller home in Kipling. Zoli and Gladys built a successful business, Beresh Motors, which they ran for over 35 years. Following retirement, they decided to build the Peanut Junction Cafe (named after the train that ran through the village at one time). Dedication and hard work made this business successful for many years as well. Family was always of utmost importance to Gladys, she was always interested in their lives, right up until the time she could no longer recognize us.
She will be greatly missed. In keeping with Gladys' wishes, there will not be a funeral. A private family interment will take place at a later date.
In lieu of food/flower donations the family suggests contributions in memory of Gladys be made to the Kipling Integrated Health Centre Long Term Care, Box 420, Kipling, SK S0G 2S0.
The family wish to send their heartfelt thank you to all the doctors, staff of homecare and LTC that have cared for Mom. Your compassion, kindness and empathy is greatly appreciated.
