Charlie (Calogero) Celeste, 87, of St. Cloud, FL and formerly of East Boston, MA passed away on Saturday, May 25, 2013 after a brief illness. He was one of eight children born to Philip and Josephine (Veneziano), and is survived by brothers Vincent of Stoneham, MA, and Albert and Salvatore of Peabody, MA. He was preceded in death by his beloved sister, Mary Piazza of Kissimmee, FL and his dear brothers Gaetano, Joseph, and Angelo. Uncle Charlie is also survived by 87 nieces and nephews, spanning four generations, who will all remember his distinctive laughter as he regaled them with colorful stories of the people he met along his journey as a Navy seaman during WWII, a successful featherweight boxer during and after his military service, and then as a character actor in Hollywood and New York. He was fiercely proud of his Italian-American heritage, and nothing meant more to him than family. He will truly be missed.
