Castaldo, David, 75, of Kissimmee, FL passed away Tuesday October 17 in Celebration, FL. David was born on April 15, 1948 in Spokane, Washington to Mary Ellen Faist and Harold Francis Castaldo. He moved to New Jersey at a very young age and was raised by his mother and stepfather, George Olden, in Hewitt, NJ. He was a 1966 graduate of West Milford High School and a 1982 graduate of Ramapo College.
David enlisted in the Army in 1968 and served in Vietnam in the Land Clearing division of the Engineering Corps. David worked at Prudential Insurance from 1971 until his retirement from the company in 1996. He also worked for Simmons- Boardman Publishing Corporation. David had a passion for fine wine and became a wine consultant. He was able to travel to California, Spain and France while he worked for ABC Fine Wine & Spirits and taught wine classes while working for Total Wine. Those were his favorite years of work.
David was a voracious reader and enjoyed any book about history, especially the Civil War. He loved to travel with his wife and was very happy that he got to go to Italy and Japan. Cruising was always on his list for a relaxing vacation. He was a huge Green Bay Packers fan (and proud owner) and a lifetime fan of the LA Dodgers.
David met his wife, Carolyn Crowley, in 1967. They wed in 1974 and were happily married for 49 years. No matter how long they were married if anyone asked David that question he
would answer ‘two of the happiest years of my life’. It always brought a chuckle in response. He had a great sense of humor.
David was predeceased by his parents, his infant son Patrick Michael (1981) and his sister Frances K Hackett (2015). He is survived by his loving wife Carolyn, son Christopher and his wife Lauren of Titusville, FL and his son John of Budd Lake, NJ. David had three loving grandchildren who will miss him terribly, Brooklyn Rose and Nicholas Giovanni Castaldo of Titusville and Aria Elsin Castaldo of Byram Twp, NJ.
Thirteen years ago, David found seven brothers and sisters from his father’s second marriage that he never knew he had. The eight of them were together for the first time on October 22, 2010. Five of them live in Wisconsin and he got to visit Lambeau Field a few times and attended a game with family. He was taken into their family and loved dearly by them and for that he was forever grateful. He is survived by those siblings: Harold and his wife Chandra, Michael, Theresa, Anna Barron and her husband Audelio, Frank and his wife Jodi, Victoria Gebhard and her husband Michael and Anita Chartier and her husband Robert. He is also survived by a “plethora” of nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
