Ivan Druce was born October 17, 1926 in Mexico, NY and later moved to Palermo, NY where he farmed with his father also named Ivan. Ivan attended school in Mexico NY where he met his future wife, Betty. Betty and Ivan were married May 3, 1947 in Mexico NY. They bought the dairy farm across the road from his father where he farmed for 25 years. He was active in many organizations including the farm extension while dairy farming.
He was involved in and played a big part in the building of the Methodist Church in Palermo which still stands today. His faith was very important to him. They have a son names David, whom they adopted as a young buy and he was their pride and joy.
When Ivan retired from farming, he and his wife Betty moved to St. Cloud FL in 1971 to the home that they had built. Ivan was employed on a ranch for 17 years until he retired again.
Ivan was very handy at reupholstering furniture and woodworking. In 2003 Ivan and Betty moved to Good Samaritan Village where Ivan found a home for his handy man talent. He loved helping people out by fixing golf carts or fixing sewing machines. He found a place where he was very needed and appreciated. With his passing there will leave a very large space in the lives of many people he affected. Ivan was a person who was independent. He loved to help people out and never expected anything in return. Ivan worked very hard his whole life and will be greatly missed.
