Steven Larry Clute was born June 3, 1967 to Betty and Larry Clute, and was later joined by his little sister Renee. He spent most of his childhood in Corinth, NY and later moved to Lake George. As a young boy Steve became involved in scouting and eventually earned the highest honor of Eagle Scout. He was a fun, adventurous, caring kid with a great sense of humor. He, his sister, and the fellow neighbor kids loved to construct tree houses, play on Tannery Hill and ride their bikes into town once a week to get their favorite sweets from the local candy store.
Steve spent a lot of his younger years not only playing at home, but at his grandma and grandpa Harvey's farm. He liked to help with chores and spend time with his extended family. He would always get a giggle from daring his cousin to pee on the high voltage fence and trying to get his friends to lick the cow's salt block. With kidding aside, Steve was a great big brother.
He loved watching his sister and they spent much time playing together. His sister still remembers him having to rescue her out of a tree after she had climbed too high.
Steve really enjoyed the great outdoors and would spend as much time as possible hunting, fishing, camping, and "mudding it" in his uncle's jeep. Being a teen, he still enjoyed hanging out with his best friends Mike McEnaney, Matt Woodcock and Rodney Moon. As he started high school he found a new interest, cooking, and eventually entered into a technical
program for culinary arts.
He married Kelly in April 1990 and moved to Kissimmee, Florida in September of that year. Once in Florida, they both developed a new love for the ocean and became certified recreational divers. Soon after moving to Florida, Steve took up a job as a chef in a local hotel restaurant. Over the next several years, Steve quickly climbed the ladder to the position of
Executive Chef where he became extraordinary at turning simple pieces of food into masterpieces as well as preparing unbelievably delicious dishes.
In August of 1995, he became a proud father to his son, Tristan. He loved to play and watch his son grow. He introduced Tristan to scouts, became a scout master and coached Tristan's T -ball and Inline Hockey teams. Steve taught Tristan to be the best scout he could be, and showed him how to live every day following the scout oath. He and Tristan soon found
themselves heavily dedicated to scouting, and even when Tristan lost interest in the sports teams, scouts was always something they both loved and shared. While in scouting, Steve put his culinary skills into action helping the troop win several first place prizes in the many BBQ competitions they participated in.
In February 2003 his daughter, Sydney, was born adding another sparkle to his eye. He and his family spent a lot of quality time together at home, the beach, camping and traveling. They traveled to such places as Yellow Stone Park, Acadia National Park, the Grand Canyon, Washington DC, Tennessee, North Carolina, Florida shuttle launches, and trips to Upstate New
York to see family and snow.
Steve changed his passion and became a food broker so he could be off on weekends and spend more time with his family. After a few years, the economy changed and he was forced to go back into the kitchen where he became a chef at Disney's California Grill; this is where he was employed at the time of his death.
Steve had many friends who knew him as kind to the core. He was down to earth and genuinely friendly. He is remembered as always having a smile on his face and putting others before himself; lending a hand to many making them feel good about themselves. His distinct laugh will forever be remembered.
Many passions Steve had included family, friends, boy scouts, cooking and the great outdoors. He sure did love to cook; it was truly his talent. He had a love for camping, hiking, kayaking, snorkeling and fishing; there was nothing like spending time with his family, connecting to nature. Steve was a "foodie" and enjoyed everything about it.
Co-workers will remember Steve as an awesome employee. He truly cared about his work and always gave it 100%. Volunteering for extra tasks and picking up shifts was one of many ways Steve showed his team spirit. His caring for "the team" led Steve to reach out to coworkers, teaching them skills and sharing his knowledge. He was awarded several different
employee recognition awards over the years at his different jobs.
Always so jolly, Steve was a family man. He would always show love and appreciation for his large extended family, supporting them in all oftheir endeavors. His big heart spilled over to his neighbors; always saying hi and stopping to talk made others feel connected; he helped out whenever needed.
Steve has impacted many lives and will always be remembered for the loving kind person he was.
Steven is survived by his wife Kelly; children Tristan and Sydney; mother and father Elizabeth and John O'Leary and sister Renee Eastman.
