

He was born to Ruthie Jeanette Bronson and Thomas Lee Driggers. Walter was the youngest of four boys, Malcolm, Elbert, Leon and himself. Walter graduated from Titusville High School in 1953. Walter was excellent in sports especially football. He was a running back at Titusville High from 1952 to 1953. He was always involved in sports, baseball, basketball and especially football. Walter was a very good athlete in Titusville High School and was voted as Outstanding Male athlete from 1952 to 1953, his senior year.
Soon after graduation he went into the Army, then joined the Paratroopers from 1953 to 1955. He then came back home to begin his working career, first for the Post Office, then he was approached by Jerry Banks of Winter Park to come work for a new bank, The Commercial Bank of Winter Park as a teller. He took this position. In 1956 he met Edwina Kelsey. In August, 1957 he became engaged to Edwina. He and Edwina married Nov. 8, 1957 at College Park Baptist Church, Orlando, Fl. Walter was a huge Gator fan for the University of Florida football team and had season tickets for many years. Family and friends would come with him to the games. Walter was a financial analyst for the State of Florida Comptroller’s Office in Tallahassee, FL for 35 years. Walter retired from the State of Florida Comptroller’s Office in August 1995.
Walter is survived by his wife Edwina and their daughter Candace M. Driggers, born Dec. 20, 1965 in Winter Park, FL at Winter Park Memorial Hospital.
Walter was a Christian and a member of College Park Baptist Church, Orlando, FL. Walter will be missed by many with his happy smiling face. Walter’s remains will be buried Saturday, February 22, 2025 at 2 PM at Pleasant Hills Cemetery in Osceola County, FL.
