Chris: Helen M. At Grand River Hospital on Wednesday, August 7th, 2014 after a brief illness with family by her side. The former Helen Marie Lang aged 91 years. Helen had been very involved in Opening New Doors and had loved Badminton and was a member of the Granite Club and had been a champion in her youth. She was a passionate gardener and had great dedication for helping families and organizations who had children with disabilities. Loving mother to Stephen and his wife Susanne of Fort Erie, John and his wife Kathy of Toronto, Tony and his wife Eileen of Waterloo and Gregory of Kitchener, beloved Baba to 8 grandchildren Allison, Philip, Juliana, Emily, David, Laura, Brian and Jason and 5 great grandchildren, Hanna, Ander, Fraser, Avelene and Oliver. Predeceased by her parents Edward Lang and Julianna Moser, her husband Alex in 1993, her daughter Mary Ellen in 1966, five brothers Carl, Ed, Harry, Vic and Bill and two sisters, Kay Durocher and Pat McKenna. Friends may call at the Ratz-Bechtel Funeral Home, 621 King St. W., Kitchener, on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 where parish prayers will be recited at 8:45 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, from St. Michael’s Church, with Father Con O’Mahony officiating. Interment will be in Woodland Cemetery, reception to follow in the Ratz-Bechtel Family Centre and donations may be made to Christian Horizons as expressions of sympathy through the funeral home.
