I feel blessed to have such a terrific family and wonderful friends who have stood beside me every step of the way through my 2 ½ year battle with ovarian cancer. Each of you has left a footprint on my heart. I came across a poem entitled What Cancer Cannot Do and it describes much of what I’ve learned while living with cancer:
“Cancer is so limited—
It cannot cripple love,
It cannot shatter hope,
It cannot corrode faith,
It cannot destroy peace,
It cannot suppress memories,
It cannot silence courage,
It cannot invade the soul,
It cannot steal eternal life,
It cannot conquer the Spirit.” (author unknown)
Thank-you to Rolly, my husband of 47 years, who has always been my rock. You have cared for me so bravely, with such positive energy, empathy and tremendous love. Thank-you to my daughters, Lara Muller-Starr and Lorna Muller, and my sons-in-law, Dave Starr and Dave Bates. To my grandsons, Nathan Starr and Kieran Bates—know that I am so proud of you both and will love you always. I will miss my twin sister, Jean Stoltz and her husband, Will Stoltz; my brother Lorne Moir and his wife Heather Moir; my brother Walter Moir; and my father-in-law, Paul Mitchner. I look forward to reuniting with our parents, Doris Moir and Charles Moir and my dear sister-in-law Colleen Moir. Special thanks to Dr. Nadia Califaretti, her assistant Pat Bieronski, Dr. Ward, Dr. McKinnon, the Grand River Cancer Centre, CCAC and Lynn from Care Partners.
Visitation will take place on Saturday April 21, 2012 from 2-4 and 7-9pm at the Ratz-Bechtel Funeral Home, 621 King St. West, Kitchener. The funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel on Sunday, April 22, 2012 at 4 o’clock, with a reception to follow at the Ratz-Bechtel Family Centre. A private family committal service will take place at Parkview Cemetery, Waterloo, at a later date. Donations to Lisaard House would be greatly appreciated.
To my family and dear friends, please remember these words borrowed from a poem:
“I am never away from you. Even now, I shall not leave you. In another world, I shall be the one who loves you. Loves you beyond measure, beyond – “ (author unknown)
