I was very saddened to hear of Mr. Bricks passing. As a parent of students at St Cecilia's, school bus driver and volunteer, I worked closely with Michael. I was touched on so many occasions by his warmth and generosity. I was upset when he didn't return the following year as Principal, and was heartbroken to hear of his passing. Michael sat to the left of me at St. Martins School in Ennismore. Although he was in a grade higher than I, we all learned and grew up together. Michael was a quiet young man with a brilliant mind. I am saddened to hear of his untimely passing. Adele Brioux(Murray)

Uncle Mike, will be greatly missed by the Young family in Ennismore. Mike was more like a brother than an uncle, as he was close in age to my brothers. Mike hired me as an EA way back in 1994 and I have him to thank for seeing something in me - I am at the same school and have loved it.  I have many memories of him - how he supported every sports team, always showing up with treats for everyone.  He started a tradition at the school of providing a big Thanksgiving dinner for everyone in the library too.  My sympathies to his family on his passing,

I've known Michel for the past 25 years as a close friend and as principal with the W.C.D.S.B. Micheal was a dedicated educator and a thorough professional who worked tirelessly for his students education was his passion and devoted all his working hours to ensure that the needs of his students were met. As a friend Michael served as a moral compass. He demonstrated and he expected a high standard of ethical values in all relationships Combined with his wit and his intellect, this made Michael a "gem" of a human being may the wind always be at your Back Michael.

"Mr. Brick" was my Principal at St. Mark's School and he was not only a great Principal but a great problem solver!  I will never forget being in 5th grade and getting into a fight with another student in the playground.  We got called into Mr. Brick's office and he didn't reprimand us, but asked me and the other student what we had in common - sure enough me and that other student ended up being best friends to this day and it truly was thanks to that meeting!!!  Mr. Brick shaped many lives and will be greatly missed.  Thanks Mr. Brick for helping to shape my life the way you did.  My thoughts and prayers are with your family and friends. I worked with Mike at CTK in Brantford I enjoyed looking after his fish that were kept in the front enterance of the school. Rest in peace my friend.

I am sad to hear of Michael's passing. "Mr. Brick" was a principal at St. Mark school when I was a student there.  Now I am a teacher in the board:)  My prayers are with his family and friends at this time.

Mike was a colleague of mine during his time at Brant Haldimand Norfolk. I had numerous talks with Mike about his gardening work that he was most proud of at his elementary school in Port Dover. I had the great pleasure and privilege to work closely with Mike at St. Mark's Catholic School, where he was the Principal and I, a parent, led the School Association. Mike's dedication to the school, the students and the Catholic Education profession was truly amazing and inspired me in my career.

Our prayers and thoughts are with the family of Mike at this time.  We worked with Mike in Durham at Sir Albert Love C.S. and his dedication to the students and staff was amazing.  God bless.

Mike was our uncle,  the youngest brother of our mother, Mary Tynan(nee Brick), who was also an elementary school teacher for the MSSB (now TCDSB) in the 70's. Mike spent many a summer at our house in  Willowdale, working his way through Brock University, and finally, teachers college. Mike had a love for music, sports, and was widely read, and had great ideas on how to run a farm in Ennismore too! Mike was the consummate educator, always inspiring his learners to exceed their grasp. Being a hard working farm boy, he quickly rise through ranks of administration to become principal, inspiring leadership in educators and students alike. Godspeed, Mike, your passing was all too soon. "Wrap me up in me oilskins and blankets, no more on the docks I'll be seen, just tell me old shipmates, I'm taking a trip mates, and I'll see you some day on Fiddler's Green"

Mr. Brick was an excellent teacher and principal.  Learning was much more than reading and writing.  He prepared young people for the world in a way that few can.  Many thanks for helping me as a student at St. Marks many years ago.  You will be missed.

Michael was a real force in my decision to become a teacher - but most notably a Catholic teacher.  Michael encouraged me and mentored me and we taught summer school together in 1989.  Michael showed me how to genuinely motivate the students under my care.  I still think of Michael as I plan my lessons.  He will be missed so dearly.  Sincerely,

He was my principal at St. Mark's in the early 90's and I can't think of one kid that didn't love having him in charge.  
Rest easy Mr. Brick, my kid's future principals have big shoes to fill.

Michael was a true Catholic educator to the highest degree.  He enjoyed working with young people immensely. He truly cared for the success and well being of young people, his various staffs and for those whom he called his friends.  I will miss him tremendously.  Rest in peace, my friend.

Michael and I worked together during his years with the Durham Catholic School Board. I don't think I have ever had such delicious,good deep laughs with anyone before, or since our times together.He had such a love of teaching and a special respect and love of kids. 
I will never forget his crazy sense of humour and his quick Irish wit. I will miss you my buddy. I so regret not being physically able to get down to see you but my thoughts and prayers were with you.

During my early years as a Catholic educator in the Durham Region, I considered Michael as one of my mentors.  He loved working with young people and those who were new to the teaching profession.  He was a highly effective role model for students and staff to emulate.  I will always remember his sense of humour and wit.  Rest in peace, my friend.
