Rita MacPherson

October 6, 1924-September 7, 2013 – Passed away surrounded by her family. Predeceased by her husband Leonard McDonnell of 44 years and parents George and Elsie (LaFlamme) Gauthier and son-in-law William Hooks.

Cherished mother of Joe McDonnell and his wife Dawn of Waterloo, Maureen Hooks Hunter and her husband Rick of Cambridge, Lynn Cashubec and her husband Brian of Kitchener. Rita was blessed with her grandchildren; Alexandra and Paige McDonnell, Tracy (Ray) Riley, Jamie Hooks, Scott Bignell, Meghan Cashubec (Brad Kapko). Loved by her great-grandchildren, Ashleigh (Justin), Justine, Brittany, William, Abigail and Celeste. Rita was also predeceased by her second husband Donald MacPherson and step-daughter Maggie Moody. Survived by step-daughter Diane, granddaughter Dawn and great-grandchildren Wayne and Chloe.

Rita was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, a gifted seamstress, sewing everything from wedding dresses to Barbie clothes and a faithful member of St. Anthony Daniel RC Church.

Relatives and friends will be received on Monday (today) from 2-4 p.m. and from 7-9 p.m. at Schreiter-Sandrock Funeral Home (519-742-4481), 51 Benton St., Kitchener. The funeral service will take place in the chapel of the funeral home on Tuesday, September 10, 2013 at 10 a.m. with Father Michael King officiating. Interment Woodland Cemetery.
