Dr. Ronald Pierce Baird

Passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 27, 2010 at Lanark Heights Nursing Home in his 98th year. Beloved husband of the late Jennifer (1997). Survived by his cherished companion of Margaret Boutlilier. Sadly missed by his daughter Wendy Nye and her husband Donald of Ajax. Lovingly remembered by grandchildren Michael, Patrick, James, and Victoria. Predeceased by his parents Harry and Florence Baird and 2 siblings.

He was born in December of 1912 in New Brunswick and as a young man went overseas and enlisted with the British Army from 1939 until 1945. Ron married Jennifer in July of 1945 and moved to Canada in 1947. He established his practice on Frederick Street in 1949. Dr. Baird was a longtime ophthalmologist in the Kitchener area from mid 1949 until his retirement in June of 2001 at the age of 88. Ronald was a longtime member of St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church

At Dr. Baird’s request, cremation has taken place. A memorial service is to be held at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church (54 Queen St. North, Kitchener) on Tuesday, March 9, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. Interment to follow at a later date in Woodland Cemetery, Kitchener.
