Mrs. Adelheid "Heidi" Wunderlich

Mrs. Adelheid Wunderlich, age 92, of Knoxville, Tennessee passed away on Tuesday, January 31, 2023. Heidi was born March 26, 1930 in Mechtal/Beuten, Germany. She moved to Brandenburg, Germany, where she met her future husband, Bernhard Wunderlich. She fled East Germany with Bernhard's family for West Berlin in 1953. They were married December 28, 1953 in Frankfurt am Main. In 1954 they emigrated to Nebraska. In the following decades she supported Bernhard's studies and professional career in polymer chemistry. They moved to Knoxville in 1988. Heidi was active in the Fox Den Women's Club, the International Friends Club of Tennessee, and the German Ladies Group. Heidi was predeceased by her husband Bernhard. She is survived by her daughter Caryn , son-in-law Brian Murphy, son Brent, daughter-in-law Anna, grandchildren Stefan (Kim Painter) and Alyssa (Caleb King), great grandson Asher King. A visitation will be held for Heidi on Saturday, February 18, 2023 at 11am with a service to follow at 1pm at Berry Highland Memorial Funeral Home.
