Alvin Leon Garner

Alvin L Garner, age 86, passed away February 9, 2018 peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones. He was born July 26, 1931. He served in the U S Army and retired from Berry Funeral Home with 46 years of service. Preceded in death by his parents, Spencer and Lily Garner, and brother, James Garner. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Imogene Cupp Garner; daughter, Kathy (Claude) Shepard; and son, Tom (Mitzi) Garner; grandchildren, Megan (Ryan) Prettyman, Matthew Garner, Cynthia, Courtney, Deanna, and Brandon Shepard; brother and sister-in-law, Ralph and Eula Garner; 3 nephews; and 1 niece. The family will receive friends on Saturday, February 10, 2018 from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm in the chapel of Berry Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow at 7:00 pm with Rev. Mike Treadway officiating. Family and friends will meet at Sherwood Memorial Gardens on Sunday, February 11, 2018 for a 3:30 pm graveside service in the Mausoleum Chapel. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Mt. View United Methodist Church, 3200 Maryville Pike, Knoxville, TN 37920.
