

Alza was the bookkeeper of the family business, Pruitt Construction. A talented seamstress, she once owned her own fabric shop in Jefferson City, TN before retiring from Sears Roebuck Company. She loved to travel and loved to laugh with her fantastic sense of humor. Her hobbies included puzzles and many crafts. Alza will be deeply missed by her family with whom she enjoyed spending her time.
Alza is preceded in death by her parents, Victor and Mae Hurst; brother, Lawrence Hurst; husbands Delmar Pruitt and Bill Cope; and daughter, Kimberly Green.
Alza leaves behind her brother, Bill (Mary Sue) Hurst; three daughters, Teresa (George) Ford, Lisa (Randy) Hodges and Sheri (Arland) York; son, Jeff Pruitt; grandchildren, Brandy Cox, Todd Ford, Oliva (Dylan) Dixon, Steven (Erika) Fairchild, Stephanie (Jeremy) Fox, Brittany (Justin) Baxter, and Eric (Morgan) York; fourteen great-grandchildren, four great-great grandchildren; and too many family members and friends to count.
A visitation for Alza will be held Tuesday, August 12, 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM with a funeral service immediately following at 7:00 PM in the Magnolia Chapel at Berry Highland South Funeral Home, 9010 E Simpson Rd, Knoxville, TN 37920. Family and friends will gather on Wednesday, August 13, 2025 at 11:00 AM for a graveside at Berry Highland South Cemetery in the Garden of Valor. Services will be officiated by Rev. Mark McKeehan.
