

at Holston Health and Rehabilitation Center in Knoxville, TN and is awaiting the return of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She was born to Snowden and Lottie Lewis in Lewisburg W VA.
She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 sisters and 2 brothers, Helen, Mary Elizabeth, Jack and Paul. Anita met and married Edward Nighswonger and they had 3 wonderful sons. She was always resourceful and ended up owning and operating her own beauty shop. Later she worked as title clerk finishing up her career working at a daycare center until she retired and moved to Waycross, GA to be near her beloved niece, Diane and her children. Anita was also involved in a Biblical Research Teaching and fellowship ministry serving as the Secretary of the Way of Georgia in the early 1990’s. She used to volunteer to babysit many of the children in the nearby fellowships so the parents could enjoy going to classes and meetings. She also enjoyed decorating, sketching, puzzles and coloring, but mostly just being with family. She moved and lived with her son Mark and his wife in 2009 until her death.
Surviving are her 3 sons, Mark (Linda) Nighswonger of Knoxville, TN, Joe Nighswonger of Long Beach WA, and Jeffery Nighswonger of Richmond Hill, GA. She had 5 grandchildren, Jesse, Justin, Renee, Elizabeth and Zachary and 2 Great grandchildren, Alana and Leon. Surviving also are many great nieces and nephews who she loved dearly and who they lovingly called Neetly.
She will be remembered for her determination and love for her family. She certainly will be missed by
many who knew and loved her. Arrangements entrusted to McCarty – Evergreen Funeral Home, 7426 Asheville Hwy, Knoxville, TN 37924. At a later date, her cremains will be interred at the Lewis family plot in Lewisburg, WVA
