

Benjamin Paul Hibbert, fondly known as Ben, passed away unexpectedly at the age of 52 in Maynardville on September 6th. Cherished by all who knew him, Ben was renowned for his kindness and appreciation for life’s simple joys and greeted everyone with a “heyyyy buddy!”
Ben’s life journey led him to Maynardville in 2024, where he became a devoted member of the New Testament Baptist Church. Embracing his faith, Ben professed his salvation and was baptized in the presence of his supportive family, marking a meaningful moment in his spiritual life.
Born and raised in Knoxville, Ben attended Karns High School and served the Knox County Sheriff’s Office for nearly 25 years, retiring as a Deputy Sheriff. Throughout his career, he took on various roles in Corrections and Patrol, with his last assignment as a school resource officer at Hardin Valley Academy and Ball Camp Elementary School, where he ensured the safety and well-being of students.
Beyond his professional life, Ben delighted in fishing, trips to the beach, and grilling for family gatherings.
Ben was preceded in death by his beloved grandparents, Mamie and Alvin Hibbert, as well as Ralph and Louise Martin, Sr.
He is survived by his wife, Emily; children, Caden, Benton, and Kinley; stepchildren, Taylor Birk, Hannah Freeman, Hadlee Birk, Lennox Yeager, and Mason Sylvester; parents, Ed and Dena Hibbert; brother, Eddie Hibbert; sister, Pamela Bryant (Jonathan); nephews, Eddie Hibbert, Jr. (Debbie), Travis Hibbert (Kirsten), Ryan Hibbert, Nick Phillips, Jason Hibbert, and Jordan Hibbert; as well as many special aunts, uncles, cousins, and other relatives. His close friends and “brothers in blue”—Butch Russell, Mark Kennedy, and Kevin Crawford.
Visitation will be held from 4-6 PM on Monday, September 15th at Berry Highland West Funeral Home, 9913 Sherrill Blvd., Knoxville, TN 37932. The service will follow at 6 PM, officiated by Reverend Mike Samples, Pastor of New Testament Baptist Church.
