Bobby Claude Hill

In September 1956, he enrolled in the College of Business at the University of Tennessee. Bob married Betty Jane Johns in December 1959 before graduating in June of 1960 with a major in Air Transportation. He also received his Second Lieutenant’s commission in the U.S. Air Force through the ROTC program. He served nine years with the Air Force in Spain, Washington D.C., Japan, Vietnam and Hawaii.

In June 1975, he accepted a position as Operations Officer with the Pentagon Motor Pool and he and Betty moved to Columbia, Maryland. They resided in the same area, except four years spent in Germany, until moving to Knoxville in September 2025.

Bob proudly served as Commodore of the Severn River Yacht Club in 1995. He and Betty enjoyed boating for 25 years. They were avid readers, bridge players, hikers and travelers during their 65 years together. Bob was an avid Vols fan and could recite many facts about UT sports.

He is survived by a few nieces and nephews, some close long-time friends and some great neighbors in Ellicott City, Maryland.
