Carolyn Sue Scates Hicks, age 70, passed away unexpectedly December 19, 2015 in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Carolyn was a beautician in the Knoxville community for over 45 years. She is preceded in death by husband, Steven Rodney Hicks; parents, William (Kenny) Scates and Zoe Alice Holbert; brother, Jospeh McKinley Scates. Carolyn is survived by daughter, Tracy Hicks McKinley and husband John; grandchildren, Zoe, Zach, and Zarik McKinley; furbabies, Doogles, CC, Speedy, and Cali. The family will receive friends Monday, December 28, 2015 at Berry Funeral Home, Chapman Highway, from 4:00-6:00 PM, with service to follow at 6:00 PM, Rev. Ron Scarbro officating. Family and friends will meet Tuesday, December 29, 2015 at Berry Funeral Home at 10:15 AM to go in procession to New Hopewell Cemetery for an 11:00 AM graveside service. Pallbearers: John, Zach, Zarik McKinley, Josh Grigg, Bubby Humphrey, Bobby and Jerry Beets.
